French Polynesia offers some of the
most amazing sailing grounds in the world. Stunning
islands with many sheltered anchorages, surrounded by
pristine beaches and towering volcanos
The cruising area in the Society Islands encompasses
Raitea, Bora Bora, Tahaa and Huahine, all mythical
islands, just a four to five hour sail apart. Here you'll
enjoy relaxed cruising in a stunning natural paradise.
Raiatea and Tahaa are two separate islands, 120 miles
northeast of Tahiti, sharing the same lagoon among the
leeward Society Islands. Raiatea is the second largest
island of French Polynesia after Tahiti, and boasts lush
green valleys, stunning waterfalls and pineapple and
vanilla plantations.

|
The departure base is located in Faaroa Bay on the
island of Raiatea, where you can experience some of the
areas best sailing. It is an ideal spot to set sail from
to explore the stunning local sights. Neighboring Tahaa
has numerous vanilla plantations across the island, and Motu Tau Tau is a popular spot for snorkelling.
Getting There:
Air Tahiti flies regularly
to Raiatea from Papeete every day. Ask us for advice and
bookings.
There is a good hotel in Raiatea and a couple of guesthouses, one right next to
the base, if you would like to arrive a day or two
earlier to explore this interesting and beautiful
island.
